One time I was leaving the gas station by my house and this tiny old black woman with a walker was struggling with her bags so I held the door open. She looked up at me with the most gracious look on her face and said, “No one has held the door open for me in years. Thank you, you give me hope for humanity”. I have never had a stranger say something to me that has stuck like that.
